Full disclosure - I'm not a marijuano (pot head for the bilingually impaired) and never have been. Just not my thing.   But I do enjoy Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson, so I guess that counts for something. And who doesn't like Rick James' classic, Mary Jane? I basically don't care if someone smokes weed any more than I care what kind of alcohol they drink. It just isn't that important to me - although I do look at people who put pineapple on pizza like someone dropped them on their head when they were a child.  I know it doesn't make sense to other people, but as long as I don't have to smell a stoner, me importa que sean Marijuanos. By now you've all heard that an EPISD Trustees home was vandalized shortly after voting in favor of the mask mandate at EPISD. He had also received comments that any rational person would see as a threat by members of the Ring the Bells Facebook group, administered by one of its founders, Kendall Jessup.  Kendall Jessup and her BFF Bethany Hatch along with several other members of the group, participated in Insurrection Day on January 6th. They say they weren't part of any violence and didn't breech the capitol.  We believe you.  Anywho - for those of you keeping track at home that group is so far responsible for losing every election they tried to be a part of, the end of one trustee's political career, and in my opinion, quite possibly the vandalism of the trustee's home.  Calm down Karen - before you threaten to sue me - I'm allowed to express an opinion, even if you don't like it. The Trump Insurrectionist spin-off group aka The Bell Ringers aka the Anti-Maskers / Anti-Vaxxers had a pretty rough night last night at the EPISD and SISD Board meetings.  Up until last night they were living in an alternate reality. They believe an election had been stolen from them - and I'm not talking just about Trump. Bethany Hatch and Irene "La Mentirosa" Armendariz-Jackson thought their major loss was the result of some sort of election steal.  The anti-maskers / anti-vaxxers had convinced themselves that El Pasoans were really a Republicans, they just don't know it. Hand to God, I have been in GOP circles were they say this with a straight face.  Up until last night they thought they were the voice for the community.  Up until last night they thought they were the majority.  And then they got hit with an ice-cold bucket of reality. El Pasoans showed up and demonstrated that we aren't a community of selfish, ignorant, foolish conspiracy theorists.  ...

I think we should all count our lucky stars that today's garden variety Republican wasn't around during World War II. That war drew Americans together in shared sacrifice. All Americans had to do their part for the war effort.  The government had drafts and rations. All Americans had important items limited or completely unavailable to them during those few years in order to support the war effort. We had to limit things like fuel, tires, firewood, coal, nylon, silk, etc... Americans had to use ration cards to purchase basic essentials like  meat, dairy, coffee, dried fruits, jams, jellies, lard, shortening, and oils.   Can you imagine the selfish "muh riiiiiights" MAGA crowd being around then? Those snowflakes don't give a damn about anyone but themselves and have the audacity to throw around the word "patriot". Its muh Gawd-givin' riiiigggght to have nylon. I know, I always gotta be the guy that says stuff others are thinking but won't say themselves because of the probability of criticism. But ni modo, thats the reason you come here in the first place.  So here we go... Yet again the wealthy white Westside Karens have organized to raise hell in our local school system. If you recall they are the ones that came up with that ridiculous "Let the School Bells Ring" group, which is supposed to be a play on the phrase "Let Freedom Ring".  And they are mostly Trump supporters. I'll get to that in a minute. Now, the group of people who apparently don't love their children enough to have them take a small step to help keep them protected and are therefore opposed to their children wearing masks, came up with a new motto - "Let Our Children Breath". A quick blog about some city things that are probably flying under the radar right now.  There was a resolution at the city that was opposed to those really terrible voting restrictions the GOP is trying to impose in Austin during the special session the Governor called, and instead asked the legislature to pass laws that encourage voter participation. You remember, when all the Dems left Texas and then all of a sudden a few randomly returned the other day... There were two city reps that voted against it. One was Trump supporter from District 6 Claudia Rodriguez. The other however was a little surprising (if you don't know he's pretty much a Republican) because he was heavily supported by some prominent local Democrats - District 4 City Rep Joe Molinar.  I wonder how those prominent Democratic supporters of Molinar are now and how they feel about his position?
