City Quick Hits
There was a resolution at the city that was opposed to those really terrible voting restrictions the GOP is trying to impose in Austin during the special session the Governor called, and instead asked the legislature to pass laws that encourage voter participation.
You remember, when all the Dems left Texas and then all of a sudden a few randomly returned the other day...
There were two city reps that voted against it. One was Trump supporter from District 6 Claudia Rodriguez. The other however was a little surprising (if you don't know he's pretty much a Republican) because he was heavily supported by some prominent local Democrats - District 4 City Rep Joe Molinar.
I wonder how those prominent Democratic supporters of Molinar are now and how they feel about his position?
Speaking of Mask Mandates...
Okay, I wasn't. But, I'm gonna do a post about the crazies that apparently don't care enough about their kids to put a small but proven layer of protection while they are crammed into a classroom because the governor forced schools back open...but that one is for another day and its gonna be a fun one.
My question is this - why isn't the city taking the burden off the school districts about masking policies? All it does is create a hodgepodge of different policies in the school districts that are all in our local community.
The city used to lead the way on issues like this. Why aren't they the ones declaring a mask mandate? The city has had the leadership with the balls to take on the governor during the height of the pandemic, why not do so now?
More to follow...its good to be back from my little break...
