The Dead Baby, DA Rosales, TC & Judge Rangel

Image
Did y'all see that video I posted on FB the other day before it was taken down? The video was on YouTube so someone probably downloaded it before it was taken down, so it likely lives somewhere on the internet.  It was a sentencing hearing for the lady that admitted she mutilated the corpse of her dead baby. At a minimum - that is what she pleaded guilty to. And Judge Bonnie Rangel - you remember, the one who wanted her own reality show ( click here to see the super weird promo video she starred, and trust me - its weird) - COMPLIMENTED the woman who ADMITTED to MUTILATING the corpse of her dead baby - on how beautiful she was!  The hearing started off with just casual conversation about the judge not remembering seeing the defendant before and Theresa Caballero - the lawyer representing the defendant - correcting her saying she's met here at least two times before. And this is the exchange from there: Judge Rangel: I don't remember her this beautiful, my gosh. The defend...

Hanany's Hilarious Headache

Image
Stop me if you've heard this one before, but there's a scandal at EPISD... Batman had his alter ego / government name, which we all know is Bruce Wayne. So its funny to me that Trustee Leah Hanany uses the last name Wayne for another job at a school district that is 600 miles away from El Paso. I know, its her maiden name. Come on, its funny. Millionaire who secretly moonlights as the Caped Crusader and a trustee who secretly moonlights as a communications coordinator for a school district that is 600 miles away from El Paso? No? Bueno.  Well you can't blame anyone who questions if she's a very good communications professional based on how she's handling her own mess back home here in El Paso. Instead of dealing with the story with facts in order to minimize the damage, she hides behind an NDA when asked questions by the media about whether she works for one for he EPISD Superintendent finalists?  And then for good measure, hires a lawyer to also basically say no co...

Rumor Officially Killed

Image
Remember all the people saying that Lina Ortega wasn't going to run for reelection? As you know, I pointed out a while back that Ortega announced her reelection bid back in September, but for some reason they just wouldn't let the rumor go.  They were giddy about it too.  They even spun a while back story about Steve Ortega running for the seat instead.  As you may recall, all the Democratic members of the legislature left Texas for a period to prevent the Republicans from passing an extremist agenda.  Three of El Paso's Delegation were among the first group of legislators to return - giving the Republicans the numbers they needed to pass their extremist agenda including State Reps Mary Gonzalez, Joe Moody, and Art Fierro.  The two Democrats that did not return, both women, were both punished by the GOP by being drawn into the same district.  Well, State Representative Lina Ortega filed for reelection today.  Rumor officially killed.

EPISD Trustee Works for EPISD Superintendent Finalist

Image
KTSM posted an exclusive earlier this evening in which one of the EPISD Trustees leaked the finalists of the superintendent search to local media.  It was clearly a Trustee because they are typically the only ones that know who finalists are for jobs like that other than the attorneys who are smart enough to not leak info.  So right about the time that trustees start reading this, they will likely figure out which trustee is the leak.  The story starts off with the line, " One candidate considered in the second round of possibilities in the El Paso Independent School District superintendent search has experience working in El Paso."  Spoiler alert - none of the finalist are from El Paso. But one of them - and only one of them - has history in El Paso, albeit very short-lived.  An alternate headline might be, "EPISD Trustee Tied to Finalist in Superintendent Search".  I know, its yet ANOTHER blow to public trust with EPISD but one of the trustees at EP...

Rumor Killer - Rep Ortega & Re-Election

Image
It is election season for the primary and the filing window opens soon so expect a flurry of rumors to start flying around about who is running for what.  So lets kill a rumor that has been floating around which sounds a lot like wishful thinking. I'm not even sure how this one got started but State Rep Lina Ortega is running for reelection. She stated so back in September lest anyone think she wasn't going to run.  It appears that last night she retweeted her campaign announcement for re-election, so that confirms she's running for re-election.

Election Day & Sleepy Electeds

Image
Tuesday is Election Day in El Paso county and across Texas for the constitutional amendments. So make sure you go out and vote.  The City of Socorro has city representative elections and Canutillo has a bond election.   These elections matter more than you think - so its important that you go out and vote.  Especially if you live in Socorro. Poor Socorro, they have been played with bad leadership for so long and if my sources are correct - Socorro lost their vote on the MPO because their mayor fell asleep during an MPO meeting.  No, I'm not being metaphorical. I mean, she fell asleep.  She wasn't the only one. County Commission Iliana Holguin also fell asleep.  Yeah...thats always what you want from you leaders...falling asleep at the meetings where the largest amount of federal funds are dispersed.  Thats representation you can count on, amirite? Oh yeah, speaking of the Holguin's - they lost pretty badly this weekend at the State Tejano Convention, o...
