Holguin & Limón Candidates Trounced

Image
I know this post is like a week late but Eddie Holguin is dressing like Pee Wee Herman these days and it takes time for a vato to process that shit. You know we do winners and losers every post-election. Lets start with the losers first.  Anyone remember the funk jam called, "The Midas Touch" ?  It was a pretty big song in the 80's.  Well what ever the opposite of that is, Sun Circle Consulting appears to have it because their candidates and their stable of electeds they roll out to endorse their candidates, took a beating last night.  All of you showed up on lit of candidates that belong to the Holguin - Limón stable that all got their asses handed to them.  That should tell you something.  Your brand is tarnished and diminished by being associated with them. And the proof is in the election results. Sheriff Wiles - Mayor Leeser, Judge Samaniego....I'm talking to you...be smart. Don't let them drag your career down.  The most noteworthy of their losse...

Election Integrity and the El Paso GOP

Image
We all get a good laugh at the people who still refuse to believe that Donald Trump lost and that he lost to someone who received more votes that any other president in US history. And the GOP candidates for races across the country trip over themselves to each proclaim a more extreme and radical position on "election integrity". The truth is almost every case of election fraud around the country has been a Republican and a Trump supporter.  But I don't know a single Republican that ever let a little thing like facts get in their way. They all have an election Chupa-votes (Choo-puh Vo-tays as y'all would pronounce it) living in their head that they think is lurking around every early voting location with people darker than a slice of wonder bread voting there.  Enter Irene "La Mentirosa" Armendariz. Ms. Jackson if you're nasty. The El Paso GOP's Sacrificial Lamb in November for congress.  Okay, okay, I know, I know. I can hear y'all rage-reading ...

Truth in Advertising: The Run-Off

Image
Commissioner Stout & Judy Gutierrez dancing at a Democratic Party function last week. Early voting for the Primary Run-Off Election started today and the run-off mailers have been dropping steadily the last few weeks.  I love the run-off mailers because that is when the candidates typically start flinging mierda at each other.  Because of redistricting, I now live in Precinct 2 instead of Precinct 3 for the County Commissioner's Court.  That race features a run-off between incumbent Democratic County Commissioner David Stout and challenger Judy Gutierrez, who was a long-time staffer at the city.  I'm writing this post because of a mailer I got this weekend and I reached out to Gutierrez for some answers but she never responded.  Her latest mailer applied the long-time Eddie Holguin assertion that people are being taxed out of their homes .  The mailer also made some very specific promises that sound really great - but have some pretty serious implicat...

Art V. Claudia - Part 2

Image
Former State Rep Art Fierro isn't ready to retire and apparently is a glutton for punishment.  According to a what was said at a Democratic Party event last night, Fierro is going to challenge City Rep Claudia Rodriguez who currently represents District 6 at city council. He must like losing to opponents named Claudia.  Rodriguez is objectively the most worthless member of council. She is also a crazy Trump cultist. She is completely unresponsive to her constituents. Her office is incapable of completing even the most basic tasks. Like embarrassingly incapable. Do you have any idea how long it took for me to get even the most BASIC functions done from her office? She was so bad as a city rep, she made Eddie Holguin look adequate.  Seriously, thats not an exaggeration. It was THAT bad.  Because of the new city rep lines, the only part of the lower valley that is left in Rodriguez's district is the gated community off North Loop.  No, not the gated community Eddie...

Oscar Leeser, SCOUTS Leak, & El Paso Women

Image
As the Republican Party continues to test just how hypocritical they can be - the Party of Small Government trying to shrink government down so much that it fits inside a woman's uterus - there has been a predictable local reaction.  El Paso women aren't happy. And not just women, but a LOT of Democrats.  Several members of El Paso's City Council have put an item on the city council agenda to create a commission to protect women's rights in El Paso.    This isn't a debate about whether or not its a good idea, whether or not it will be effective, or what exactly it would do. It would be advisory, so it would only matter to the extent that the elected officials on council would care about it.  Not at all the point to this post.  The point of this post is that this item put Mayor Leeser in a much-needed hot seat. His administration has been largely defined by drama and well, not much else. I mean there hasn't been anything transformative under his administrati...

Haggerty's Haul - Profiting Off the Public

Image
In yet another case of Are You Fucking Kidding Me? , YISD Trustee Shane Haggerty is yet again getting public tax dollars from a political subdivision in which he oversees the budget.  Focus on the word again .  El Paso Matters wrote a story about this recently and indicated the YISD Board unanimously approved the expenditure. Thats factually accurate - but there were two board members that were not present at the meeting - Trustees Lucero (who previously voted against this) and Bustillos.  This is the second time that Haggerty receives tax dollars for his robotics company for services provided to the school district where he serves as a Trustee. The first time was for $70 grand, this time it was much less, but that doesn't matter one bit. Why this is allowed is beyond me - and no matter what story someone comes up with - this is a story of a trustee doing business with a board he's a part of.  This absolutely does not pass the smell test. Somehow its technically le...
