Constable Uniforms

Okay I've given it a lot of thought. I think the best uniforms for the constables to use are the ones from Precinct 7. Thats Constable Sommers' office. Classic and professional look. Plus you could rock a cowboy hat with them. Very El Paso. Thats the one that all the constables should use. There's a bonus. I tease Constable Garcia about looking like Pit Bull when he wears a suit. But if he rocks the cowboy hat, he can have a Lupillo Rivera thing going on. #winning

NFL Rant

Domestic violence is a crappy thing. Its not something to be made fun of and its something to be taken seriously. The NFL has screwed up the handling of this situation at every turn. Now it turns out that they had access to the video a long time ago. The only reason they are coming down hard now is because the video got out. Which tells me they weren't looking to do the right thing from the get-go. They are coming down on the guy to save face. Frankly the wife is getting victimized by this whole thing again. Its bad enough she's married to that piece of crap. But now the piece of crap can't make any money to support the family. Who's getting hurt by that? Yeah sure he is, but so is she. And when he gets pissed about not being able to play football and make any money, exactly who do you think he's going to blame? It wouldn't surprise me if she was abused again. But lets be real for a minute. No matter how badly they screwed up in the handling of this case, its no...

Being Specific - Lower Valley Water

I wrote this piece a while back about the water boards, their elections, their staff, etc. Well one Lower Valley resident gave me a call and said that I was being unfair and pretty much dared me to be specific about identifying a major mistake that has happened under the leadership of management of the water boards. The caller must be related to one. So I thought I'd oblige. I touched upon it but I'll go into greater detail. Jack Allayan is the general manager at the Lower Valley Water District. A few months ago there was a problem with the water in Clint, San Elizario, and Socorro. It was coming out brown. This was a thing that was going on for several weeks. Imagine turning on your faucet and having water that wasn't clear coming out. Imagine caring for small children and that happening. Imagine trying to bathe in water like that. It became a media story . To be fair to Allayan, the water wasn't coming out that color because of anything they did. There was a change in...

The State Delegation - Important, But Not As Powerful As You Think

Our delegation is important, so before some of you get your feelings hurt with this piece, try to read it objectively. The state legislative delegation has to run every two years. While most of the crazies get upset over what money gets raised and by whom in city and county races, they are ignorant to the amount of money raised by state legislative candidates. They lose their mind over campaign funds that aren't all that much. But if it comes from an old white Republican it must be bad. At least thats the rationale of the crazies. Maybe they should check the contributions of the state delegation. Lobbyists make it rain on state legislative candidates more than a GI makes it rain on a stripper at Foxy's on the first of the month. Seriously, do you think Woody and Foster money comes anywhere close to TLR, TTLA, and Annie's List money? Hell no. And this will really drive the crazies nuts. Woody and Foster money can be a significant part of a candidates campaign war chest for t...

New Poll Question - Mayor Leeser

I've posted a new poll question. This question is about Mayor Leeser's performance. Weigh in and give your opinion about how you think he's doing. The poll is located at the bottom of the left column.

Leon Spearheads Constable Reform

Image
One of the biggest challenges for county government is the fact that 80% of the department heads are elected officials. That means they think about their own careers/reelection before they think about the good of the county. Maybe thats a bit of a blanket statement but when I'm proven wrong I will rethink that statement.  I know most of the Constables here in town on a personal level. Not all of them, but most of them. They all seem like great people. But lets be honest, there have been some real problems with their offices and their inadequacies cost taxpayers a lot of money. But, they are constitutionally mandated, despite the inadequacy of some of them. I've written about constables before and just for a refresher they are each elected officials. So they each sorta think they are mini-sheriffs. They aren't, but a lot of them think that. None of them have the same uniform so it can be very confusing as you make your way around town and see a series of different uniforms. ...
