This is what it's like talking to some El Paso City Council Candidates

I made this video a few minutes ago to express my frustration in talking to some of our candidates for city rep in El Paso. I'm sure I can think of a few people who will immediately go to make versions of their own, but remember where you saw it first before the copy cats hit the internet. Republican Leaders - They Are Either Lying or Stupid

There's no way around this. I hope people in El Paso realize exactly how detached Republican leaders are from not only reality, but from our community. First it was Governor Perry, now its Congressman Conseco. Read more in today's El Paso Times . This is now the second pendejo to say that a car bomb went off in El Paso. Don't let them off with excuses, one of two things is happening. They are either purposely and maliciously lying about our community and hurting our economy, or they are just plain stupid. You decide. But remember this the next time they sneak in town for a 2 hour visit with the big shots in town that they don't want anyone to know about...

Eastside Civic Association - Quick Thoughts

I will post video and in-depth analysis later but I had some quick thoughts. First of all, I don't know if the candidates are getting forum fatigue or what, but to put it gently, they all sucked tonight. None of them seemed on their game. They all seemed distracted or just in a bad mood. Dr. Noe spoke with me after the forum and raised an issue that I think is a fair critique. He says, and I haven't confirmed on the video yet, that Mayela Mejia said she was the interim city representative. I don't think I understood his point right at the moment, but upon thinking about it, I think he has a point. Noe says she's referred to herself during the time frame that she was running the District 3 office with several different titles. I think that leads to confusion and she should clarify it better. Noe's characterization tends to minimize what she did and he basically says she was just a secretary. She characterizes the it as doing everything a city rep does except voting. ...

El Paso Young Democrats Announce Endorsements

The El Paso Young Democrats endorsed candidates in a meeting earlier this evening. In District 1, the vote was a tie between Lyda Ness-Garcia and Dr. Theresa Ware-Asbury. As a result, there will be no endorsement issued in that race. In District 5, the endorsement goes to Mayela Mejia. In District 6, the endorsement was awarded to City Rep Eddie Holguin by unanimous vote. District 8 endorsement went to Cortney Niland. The official announcements will be made tomorrow on the El Paso Young Democrats Facebook page and via press release.

City Rep Rachel Quintana Attends Candidate Forum

In one of the bigger WTF moments of this campaign season, City Rep Rachel Quintana actually showed up to a candidate forum. Turns out this is actually the second one she attended. She wouldn't go near a candidate forum when she was a candidate and obviously didn't think they were important enough to attend. I guess now that she is on her way out, she has changed her mind and attended tonights Eastside Civic Association candidate forum. It's no secret, she is a rival to Mayela Mejia who is a candidate in that race along with Dr. Mike Noe, George Atkins, and the lady that thinks you can "cure" gay through prayer, Sonia Brown. Representative Quintana didn't speak to Mejia or even acknowledge she was in the room, but the unpopular city rep spent a great deal of time chatting with Dr. Noe. Don't read anything in to that, I think Quintana would support anyone against her rival so don't take this as a suggestiont that she's supportive of Noe. He's try...
