From The Lion Star Blog by Jaime Abeytia Tim Besco, the Republican's sacrificial lamb running against Congressman Reyes this year has been pretty comical so far. He's a nice guy and all, but in my opinion not remotely qualified for the job. That's mostly his fault, but partly the fault of his campaign manager, Oscar Gonzalez. He is allegedly a Democrat, but I've checked around the party and no one seems to remember him being active in the party. His website leads one to believe he's worked on political campaigns previously, but it does not site specific examples. In fact it just states, "Various political campaigns". From The Lion Star Blog by Jaime Abeytia When he was elected to the state legislature to represent the 78th District of El Paso in Austin, Joe Moody was a young prosecutor. During his freshman term, the young Moody matured in to an accomplished legislator that would go on to win several accolades from statewide groups for his legislative work, including an award that was once awarded to the current Republican Speaker of the House Joe Strauss. In a somewhat prophetic post on the conservative blog Refuse the Juice, David K foreshadows Margo’s tactics of negative campaigning. Specifically he writes, “I think Margo's out-of-town consultant is a huge liability for him. Margo is at the mercy of a Rove era/trained consultant who likes to drop bombs at the last moment in a flurry of public activity so that the opponent can't answer. Sources in the Margo camp tell me that the next critique leveled against Moody by Margo will be that Moody was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Interesting change in tactic, but it might signal an attempt by Dee Margo to try to appeal like more of a regular guy and less of an establishment country club Republican. Dee Margo has acquired quite a bit of wealth since inheriting ownership of his father-in-law's insurance company. I wonder if he would characterize his own children in the same manner as his campaign is apparently going to characterize Rep Moody?

That's a direct quote from Oscar Gonzalez, the campaign manager for the Republican Party's candidate for Congress, Tim Besco. The alleged Democrat said that to me on the phone Monday night when I invited his candidate to come on my show and debate Tim Collins. This is why I hate dealing with gate keepers because they often think they are doing whats in the best interest of their candidates and very often they are wrong. Dead wrong in this case. Besco has very weak support, even in his own party. Tim Collins is the candidate the Republicans wish they had. A guy who is solid on the issues, understands the regular people, and can present well. The Besco campaign has an excellent opportunity to put any fears of the base to rest and show that he belongs in the discussion as a top tier candidate.
