DA Rosales Asks for Help From GOP AG

Okay, we have to stop pretending that what is going on in the El Paso District Attorney's Office is anything other than an unhinged spiral of what in my opinion can only be described as political lunacy.

I know it seems like my blog is pretty centered on only a couple of themes lately but the truth is, my blog reflects what is going down in our political sphere.

Our District Attorney appears to not be able to handle criticism very well and appears to have used her office to launch attacks on what she seems to think are her adversaries. In fact, I fully expect to be on her list in the very near future.

The latest developments from her office look like an attack not just on a local media outlet - but on the first amendment and I'm sick and tired of no one saying it. When your District Attorney appears to be using the blogosphere and court filings to attack outlets that have been critical of her time in office - that is an assault on this community.

There are no two ways about it.

She apparently doesn't like the coverage she's getting so her solution appears to be to attack the outlets. An attack on those that report the news to the public, is indeed, an attack on the public.

Trump has normalized attacking our institutions but it is beyond belief that a so-called Democrat would take that same playbook and implement it in our community. But that is exactly what District Attorney Yvonne Rosales appears to be doing.

But just in case you still think she deserves to be taken seriously, you should read her bonkers motion to remove the judge hearing the Walmart Shooting case. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that she uses the motion to indicate that she appears to want help from the Attorney General's Office to prosecute the case.

Its one thing to hire outside council to prosecute the case. I mean it makes people like Gilbert Guillen look like total dumbasses when he says she's "one of us" and then she goes out of her way to make sure "one of us" isn't the prosecutor in the case - but asking the Republican AG, who is under fire for all sorts of alleged misconduct - to prosecute the case, is a slap in the face to this community.

I mean I know Guillen fancies himself as some sort of comedian, but he doesn't realize he's much more of a clown than a comedian at this point.

And that shit ain't funny.

Rosales wants the assistance of an AG that was FUCKING INDICTED for felony securities fraud charges shortly after he was elected attorney general in 2015. In 2020, the FBI began investigating him over allegations from former staff that he abused his office to help a wealthy donor.

That is by any street definition, corruption. And THATS the guy Rosales wants help from?

I mean seriously...Jesus H. Christ, he's the only AG that has a fucking MUG SHOT!

In what universe is this shit normal?

Who the hell thinks getting help from an elected official who is indicted makes sense in any circumstance? Its completely unhinged.

I don't know if she plans on switching parties, but at this point it would not surprise me in the least if that is what she decided to do.

I did an interview with a national news outlet about Rosales recently and going back to my opinion about the attacks on coverage of her office, I was asked if I thought I would be targeted as well.

My answer was not just yes, but hell yes. I absolutely expect to be targeted by the DA's office and I will not be silent about it if I am. I will raise holy hell about it.

But lets pull over to really have a conversation about what is going on in her administration right now.

Rosales filed motions to get rid of the sitting judge in the most important case this community has ever seen for what appears to be because he hurt her feelings.

In one of the most bananas court documents I have ever read, the internet troll Rosales hired to be her main prosecutor Curtis Cox filed a motion that is jam packed with personal grievances.

Its like watching Donald Trump post on Truth Social.

Everything in the world is everyone else's fault but hers.

The dog ate my homework.

The teacher doesn't like me.

The sun got in my eyes.

Any dumb ass excuse you can think of is in this filing.

That motion, probably more than all the drama that has become synonymous with her office, demonstrates the lengths DA Yvonne Rosales appears to be willing to go through to avoid taking responsibility for what is happening in her office. In my opinion, its the most accurate demonstration of a lack of responsibility and accountability from her office.

But quite frankly, its much, much more than that. And it should infuriate every self-respecting El Pasoan. The Walmart Shooter case should be the perfect opportunity for this community to take the lead on reform.

We should be in the national spotlight for the plight of Latinos' struggle with injustice and racism. We could be the community that starts the conversation on a national level about gun reform and racism and so many important conversations.

And about Latinos coming together as a people to deal with these issues head-on. To become the actual personification of the dicho, quisieron enterrarnos, pero se les olvido que somos semillas...

For the bilingually impaired that means, they tried to bury us but they didn't realize that we are seeds. Its a commentary about overcoming what most people would see as adversity, but for us, is in fact a breeding ground for growth.

So instead of taking advantage of the opportunity to bring our community together in a pursuit of justice for the victims of the shooting and their families - and our community as a whole - we are in a conversation about her petty bullshit and whining about how everyone is out to get poor Yvonne.

Surprise, surprise, the candidate that started her campaign making it all about her - is now making the Walmart Shooter case all about her - and not about the victims or our community... And that is the shit that should infuriate every El Pasoan. Because this is the most important case our community will ever have in the history of our existence and Rosales appears to be making it about her, and not us!

That is not leadership.

She's appears to be more concerned about her idea of her own public perception of "justice" towards her administration instead of doing what a public servant is supposed to do - put the community first - and pursue justice for our community.

She appears to want to bring the shooter into the courtroom so that she can have a photo-op.  Thats all she seems to care about - the photo-op instead of the pursuit of justice.
