Progressive State Reps Stump for COP
She is facing State Rep Art Fierro who is facing harsh criticism from Democrats in the legislature representing communities across Texas for his role in enabling Texas Republicans to pass draconian voter suppression bills.
If you're following the elections in El Paso, voter turnout in this election is extremely low and a record number of mail-in ballot request have been rejected. Fierro, who sat on the Elections Committee where most of the controversial legislation was birthed, was one of the first Democrats from the Texas legislature to return and assist Texas Republicans in achieving a quorum, allowing Republicans to pass their extremist agenda.
Fierro apparently hasn't pointed to anything for his constituents that was achieved through is return and enabling of the House Republicans. Apparently the only person who benefitted from Fierro selling out our voting rights to the GOP was Art Fierro himself.
When you do a side-by-side review of their records in the legislature, COP as a freshman member passed millions of dollars to help small businesses in El Paso, made tougher penalties on mistreating animals, and delivered for Texas Veterans and the disabled community.
Arti Fierro's most noteworthy bill was to make the Super Bowl a holiday. And failed to pass it - in a state where football is religion. And if that don't sum up Art Fierro in the legislature, I don't know what does.
Fierro has sent out mailers with support from his fellow Sun Circle stablemates of local elected officials that share the same consulting team. This is the first time I can recall of a delegation of Democrats from across the state to come into El Paso to stump for one of the members of the delegation.
