Local Charity: Republican Candidate Stole $80,000
A local charity that provides funds for healthcare of sick children says that El Paso Republican candidate for Precinct 4 County Commissioner, David Adams, stole $80,000.
An internal document dated October of 2021 indicates that the The El Paso El Maida Shriners charged David Adams with "theft of $80,000.00 from Shriners fund".
The Shriners is a charity associated with Freemasons with the goal of providing healthcare to neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn victims, and kids with other sever medical issues regardless of a family's ability to pay.
The matter was handled internally within the Masonic Temple in a proceeding similar to a trial. Master Masons from other parts of the country came to El Paso to see the evidence and hear the charges leveled against Mr. Adams. This document indicates that they found the allegations to be sure and the punishment laid out was expulsion from the Masonry.
Sources within the masonry indicate that is a very rare punishment to hand out and is reserved for matters typically related to crime. Sources further indicate that this is the first time such a proceeding and punishment has happened in El Paso in a few decades.
I reached out to Mr. Adams and he denied all the allegations, saying that it was an effort to undermine his candidacy. He further stated that he is actually the one that found a million dollars missing, but didn't offer and explanation why Master Masons from other parts of the county found the allegations against him true.
The allegations about the theft predate his candidacy for County Commissioner.
If true, this is pretty bad. I mean an allegation of theft of 80 large from a charity to take care of sick children is a pretty devastating allegation.
I did a complete interview with him about his candidacy that I will post at a later date after I interview some of the other Republican candidates for the seat.
