Escobar Dem Challenger a Birther?

Okay so you clicked on this because of the title. And yes, its appears so. But I need to give some back story before I get to the birther part. I'll try to be as succinct as I can be, so - walk with me....

I genuinely feel sorry for first time candidates. Its hard to run for office and as a first time candidate you absolutely never have a real understanding of all the work that goes into running a campaign. The good candidates know they don't know what they are doing and seek out advice and assistance from people who have done it before.

The bad ones think they know what they are doing and go on being blissfully ignorant about the status of their campaign because they go off of Facebook likes or their friends that are being nice to them - and then end up completely shocked on election night.

I've seen it play out dozens of times.

I feel especially bad for people that are fist time candidates that shoot for the moon and run for mayor, county judge, or congress without ever having run for something else. I mean think of the ego it takes to say, screw it - I'm jumping to the front of the line. I, who have never held elective office before, am the best person for the job

As we say here in El Paso, ay-ay!

Apparently no-one ever told those folks that they gotta crawl before they walk. Run for something winnable and learn how to govern before jumping to the front of the line like an ego maniac and tell everyone that you're the best to represent them - even if you've never actually represented anyone.

They always lose and then one of two things happens - they go away and you never hear from them again - or they become a perennial candidate because at the end of the day - they are usually just a title-chaser.

But in the end, I do feel back for those folks because I've seen them emotionally wrecked once the realization hits them on election night at about 7:05pm or so, when those first early voting numbers come in and they see they are getting murdered.

So try to take it easy on them.

Pobres.

I tried to be delicate with the challenger on the Democratic Ballot that is facing Congresswoman Veronica Escobar because she doesn't stand a chance in hell and I figure no one has told her that yet. But sometimes people take my kindness for weakness.

Deliris Montes is the Democratic challenger to the congresswoman and I mentioned her in a recent blog post. I knew you all were going to have fun with her name and you didn't disappoint. My inboxes, dm's, and text messages blew up with jokes about it. And yes, I am well aware that she goes by her initials. And yes, I know they are one letter short of spelling the word "dumb".

I assure you, the "can't spell dumb without U" didn't go slip by me.

Anywho, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt when she commented on my post and I asked her some basic questions regarding core Democratic Party issues. Pedestrian stuff really. Rather than answer the questions, she started playing games.

She said she would lay out her positions at a fundraiser even she was throwing. Basically she wanted me to pay-to-play. If you're on my FB page, find the thread and read how evasive she was about answering superficial questions. And she got angry with me pretty fast because I wasn't falling for the come-to-my-fundraiser-and-I'll-explain line.

So since she didn't answer to answer basic questions, I figured I'd have to try to do some analysis on her based on what was publicly available. As I've said dozens of times, social media is the bane of candidates' existence.

Its bad for them but they just can't resist it.

Like people from Albuquerque and crystal meth.

Since Deliris wasn't willing to answer even basic questions, I decided to have a little looksy on her social meal and I came across something pretty interesting.

Turns out she may be a birther.

But don't take my word for it - here's the screenshot (there's always a screenshot).

Mind you, this isn't old. This is just a couple of weeks ago, and a person running for the Democratic nomination to be our elected representative in congress is passing on birther conspiracy theories.

I was curious about the person who's content she was sharing and talk about an eye-opening experience! The person who's content she was sharing is a certifiable Trump supporting Qanoner. Again - don't take my word for it, take a gander for yourself. Click on this link and it will take you to Michelle Manhard's page on Facebook

I mean she's out there y'all. She's a birther, antivaxxer, qanoner, gun enthusiast. Hates the media, does her own "research". Trust me, she checks all the boxes.

And for some reason - which she probably won't answer - Deliris Montes aka DMB, is sharing her content. And to be clear, she's not sharing her content to be like, hey this lady is nuts kind of way.

Anyone pursing the Democratic nomination for congress should answer why they are reposting birther conspiracy theories. Also, for those of you keeping score at home, the video that is reported by DMB is from a press conference from 2016. So I'm as perplexed as you are about why she's saying exposures are surfacing fast and furious.

So I went to the post and I asked her. Not sure if she's going to continue to insist I pay $9.99 to get answers out of her - or if she's charging that per question. Its all very complicated.

For those of you that don't remember Donald Trump didn't found birtherism but he very clearly rode that horse as far was it would take him and he's largely associated with being the face of birtherism.

I've looked high and low for any substantive information about her policy positions and can't find anything. Its a big mystery. Although, she had one of the most fun Ballotpedia pages to read that I have come across in a long time.

No substantive policy positions there - a lot of word salad generalizations but no actual positions. But I did read that if she could be a superhero it would be Wonder Woman, that she once went skiing and ended up with her "head stuck in the snow" and her "legs up to the sky".

Seriously, click here to read it.

God I love election season...
