Parent Poses as Student at San Eli ISD
A parent posed as her daughter at a middle school in San Elizario recently, and attended all of her daughter's classes. The woman, who's name is Casey Garcia, stated she did it as a "social experiment". She took video of her little caper and posted it online. She is in another video getting arrested on a traffic warrant bragging about how the video of her in school had gone viral.
If you haven't seen the videos, let me help you out. This first one is video of her posing as her daughter and going through most of the school day.
I watched the videos and watched the comments and it looks like she's moderating the comments closely so that only positive comments are allowed so there is a lot of praise for what she did but mentioned getting heat for the stunt, too.
Frankly, that doesn't make any sense. She breeched security of a school. She infiltrated a place parents think their children are safe when they are at work. The woman, who said she was in her 30's, was around children in the classrooms all day long until she was caught.
So for all of you heaping praise on Casey Garcia, lets just pull over the crazy train for one second and ask ourselves one simple question - if this were perpetrated by a man, would you still be heaping praise on the parent? Or would you be asking what sort of creep even tries something like that?
Yeah, I thought so. You're first thought would be somebody arrest that creep!
Seriously, in the video she uses the hashtag about safety awareness- as she proceeded to make the campus less safe.
Social experiment ni madre! She did it for the likes and the notoriety. Why else would she have posted the video, a follow-up video, and a follow-up video to the follow-up video. Looks to me like she's milking everything she can out of this.
What kind of shitty human being even contemplates this kind of thing? It was a deliberate effort to make people who have been in a terrible position since the state of this pandemic look bad.
On top of trying ti figure out how to navigate public education in the midst of a global pandemic, the occasional active shooter drill (remember when our safety drills were about fires and every one quietly and quickly walked along a path to get away from the building?), now we gotta add bar bouncer to the list of stuff teacher's have to do during a given day?
This second video is a shot of her trying to explain why she did it - but while trying to develop her legal defense in real time, she's acknowledged several times that she did it, aside from posting video of her doing it.
Worst. Confession. Ever.
And finally here is video of Casey Garcia getting arrested by El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies.
She's pretty upset when she gets arrested but she makes it sound like the arrest is some sort of reprisal on the part of the Superintendent, whom she refers to as a "he". Which means ol' supermom here doesn't actually know that her child's superintendent is a she - Dr. Jeannie Mesa Chavez.
What more than likely happened was a police report was made (rightfully so) and when the SO's got the woman's name, they ran it and found the traffic warrant.
But hey speaking of getting arrested - she will likely be arrested for the actual incident because well, she broke the law. At a minimum she was trespassing.
San El ISD needs to purse ever legal remedy at their disposal. Next time you have no idea who it could be trying to pull something like this.
While we are at it, lets just talk about the fact that Casey Garcia is trying to take credit for pretending to be her child and attending class all day. She wore a hoody that covered up most of her head, neck, ears, and shoulders. She was also wearing a mask (good for her?). With a lot of students and a mix of virtual and in-person learning, its easy to see how you could pull this off, especially when you have accomplices, which she did.
This could've ended badly, and there is nothing to celebrate about what this woman did - she ought to be ashamed of herself. No amount of likes is worth how badly this really could've been.
