Annello & Gutierrez Spar Over Employment
There was an article in the El Paso Inc regarding the District 2 race between Alexsandra Annello and lifelong El Pasoan Judy Gutierrez. The two are in a run-off election and early voting has already started.
In the article, Annello asserts that she fired Gutierrez, someone who has worked for the city for 24 years - 15 years working in District 2 - which is about twice as long as Annello has actually lived in El Paso.
I realize that things get heated between candidates, especially in a run-off, but the implication of firing someone is either meant to put it in the mind of a voter that there was a good reason to fire Gutierrez, or that Gutierrez is disgruntled. The former is more devious because it implies misconduct or ineptitude.
Thats pretty gacho on the part of Annello because she attributes being able to get through a very difficult time in her life to Gutierrez.
Whether or not someone was fired can be definitively proven. Either she was - or wasn't - fired. Since its a government entity we are talking about, there is absolutely going to be a paper trail. So I shall endeavor to see who is lying here and report back.
What I have been able to piece together so far is that Gutierrez retired and had tried to retire earlier in 2019. But she was kept on until the end of the year, seemingly at the behest of Annello. If that is indeed the case, how in the hell can Annello allege Gutierrez was fired?
The damage is done. Annello made the assertion and she knows the media isn't going to call her out on it. Politically, that was well-played.
I think it says a lot about her character as an elected official, boss, person, and a friend - but politically it was a well-played hit job.
But take a look at this video from Guitierrez's last week working at the City of El Paso for Annello. That doesn't look like someone who is being fired to me.
If you are firing someone, its usually on a Friday, near the end of the day, and they leave with a box of their personal items. You don't pay money for a trophy, flowers, pose for pictures, and make time during a council meeting to recognize them.
Ask Jeremy Jordan.
Someone who was forced to retire doesn't stick around for a few extra months, nor are they rewarded. Thats just not how it works.
Some of you may be thinking, well she forced her out and Annello is just playing the part. If so, well that tells you all you need to know about Annello.
But Gutierrez has documentation on her side. And this video.
You decide.

What. The. Hell?
I acquired this photo and take a look at the coat Annello is wearing. Before any of you complain about analyzing what a woman is wearing as an elected official - chill out. I've commented on Svarzbein's sneaker game literally for years.
It appears to be some sort of Greek orgy type shirt. At any rate, its a shirt of a bunch of nude men on it with a leaf covering their penises.
Or is it peni?
I don't know what the plural of that word is, I only have one.
Anywho - can you imagine the hell that would be raised if any male member of council showed up to a council meeting wearing a coat of a nude woman with a leaf covering in lady parts? It would likely make the news and that member would rightfully be called out for it.
Imagine if an employee of the city went to work like that? Pretty sure they'd at a minimum be sent home to change, and more than likely a write-up. And male or female, they'd rightfully face sexual harassment claims.
Annello rocked this coat on more than one occasion and once, even in a department meeting with city staff.
Nothing screams good judgement and professionalism quite like nudity and a leaf in the workplace, amirite?
