The Blue Beat-Down of the EP GOP

This is the first in a series of post-election blog posts.

I know Republicans don't really pay much attention to data, only the info that supports their particular world view. But the results of the election yesterday were pretty clear for the El Paso Republican Party.

Well if you read their comments and posts - the El Paso Republican Party has a real problem with accepting reality. I'll get to that in a minute.

Here's some broad strokes in terms of turnout. Republicans lost big time in El Paso County, with Democrats getting anywhere from 63-65% to the Republicans' 32-35%, with the exception of Precinct 3 where the Republican was only able to manage 27% - although he out-performed the previous Republican by about 4 points. Truth be told, he had a much steeper hill to climb than the rest of the Republicans because they at least had the Republicans on the westside to add to their totals.

Despite what they are all telling themselves, the reality is that the Republicans made no gains.

It was the same result it always is and despite all their caravans and stuff, they still performed dismally. Not a single one of their candidates was elected - nor were they even competitive.

The local GOP is pushing a narrative that El Paso is now "light blue".

Damn they are stupid. El Paso County was second only to Travis County (Austin) in its support for Biden Harris. So out of all the blue counties in the urban areas of Texas, along the border, and in the South Texas Valley, El Paso voted Democratic at a higher rate than all the other counties with the exception of Travis County.

The reality that the GOP just can't seem to grasp is that Texas is closer to turning blue (by quite a bit), that El Paso is to turning red.

So no, El Paso is not "light blue".

The funny (actually sad) thing about them is that they can never seem to accept their losses. They always have to find some conspiracy theory behind their loss.

A couple years ago, fueled by Democratic conspiracy theorists like Norma Chavez, Rick Seeberger came up with a conspiracy theorist about the voting machines, etc. Well the GOP performed no better with Rick Seeberger as Chair of the Republican Party.

But same story, different year. Irene "La Cucaracha" Armendariz-Jackson - who came up with the most culturally offensive commercial I've ever seen in El Paso against incumbent Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, is also not able to grasp the fact that she lost fair and square. And much like Seeberger a couple years ago, Armendariz-Jackson is saying the election was stolen from her. She is calling for a recount and begging people to donate to her campaign to pay the $18,500 it costs to do a recount.

She is now also engaging in an old trope against the Democratic Party alleging the Democrats had dead people vote. Again she can't actually document that claim, but she's making the claim nonetheless. She posted on Facebook - which is also were she announced that she was going to call for a recount - that a gentleman named Salvador Villanueva passed away earlier this year and says he voted in the general election in precinct 80.

Does all this crazy stuff sound familiar? Yes, she's copying off Donald Trump's paper.

But I love debunking all the crazy stuff from the Trump supporters. Turns out that there are 4 gentlemen in El Paso with that name. One is 44, one is 96, on one is 18 and one is 52.

Jackson says that he voted in Precinct 80. Well when you untangle all the gentlemen with that name, their addresses and their voting records - you come down to the facts.

The gentleman that passed away was the one that was 96.

The one that voted in the general election was Salvador L. Villanueva. They are two different gentlemen. Whats worse is that the gentleman that passed away, the one cucaracha says voted in the general election, doesn't even live in CD 16. He lives in CD 23.

He's also NEVER voted.

Ever.

Bethany Hatch has to take the cake for the most amount of excuses and conspiracy theories about why she lost. My personal favorite is that since people weren't asked to take off their masks when then went to vote (we are in a freaking pandemic), then a lot of people voted who shouldn't have voted.

They legit think that the election was stolen from Trump and stolen from each of them.

Sorry GOP - it wasn't. The voters went to the polls, the cast their ballots, and the ballots were counted.

They just didn't vote for you.

You're surprised because you surround yourselves in a campaign bubble of supporters. You think social media is a way to get the pulse of voters. You think because you get likes or shares that it translates into votes.

It doesn't.

And I'll let you in on a scary little secret. The Democrats destroyed you in this election cycle while fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

They didn't knock on doors. There were no rallies or get togethers. There was none of the normal in-person tools utilized to push the base out.

Can you imagine how much worse the beat down would've been if we actually knocked on doors and spent money?

Zas.
