I'm Done with Republicans & Hypocrisy
I am so done with Republicans - the party of personal responsibility - and their epic level of hypocrisy with basically everything.
I'm also done with some Democrats that are total hypocrites as well.
So lets call some folks out now shall we?
The El Paso Republican Party doesn't give a damn about El Pasoans' safety right now during he pandemic. We have record number of cases and they have record number of spreader events, in doors, with no masks on and absolutely no adherence to any safety protocols whatsoever.
They apparently haven't bothered at all to ask permission to hold all the super-spreader events they have been having lately, to include one they just had featuring the state chairman of the Texas Republican Party.
It obviously makes the Mayor and all his senior people look bad because well, they are all Republicans. So how seriously are people taking the mayor when he's the most prominent member of the GOP and they don't even tap the brakes to listen to the mayor or his edicts relating to the coronavirus.
Also, lol to the Republican Party and their "we are the storm" motto. They really watch too much TV. Its more like Red Tide. As in you people are ultimately going to leave a trail of death in their wake.
Honorable Mention is Phyllis Martinez Gonzalez who tried to give the impression that she gives a damn about the virus by fake announcing that her campaign was going to halt their activities at the polling places and refrain from handing materials to voters until they all got tests back. There's no clear indication of how many of them actually tested but I have a ton of pictures and videos showing that her workers - at multiple locations - never stopped handing anything out and PMG was right back out there a day later.

Aaron Montes & Republicans
Aaron Montes' entire candidacy has gotten on my nerves because he's gotten such a free pass from the media when at any other time, there would be MAJOR amount of scrutiny on a campaign like his. I have a couple more tidbits on Montes, but this particular bit of hypocrisy fits best right here.
Montes, who prior to running for office lived in District 3 and never once uttered a peep about how much of a Democrat he allegedly is, obviously has an uphill climb. He has zero name ID in the district because well a) he only lived in the district less than a month before announcing and b) he was a print reporter for a publication who's readership has plummeted over the last few years - thought not at all Montes' fault in the least.
So he has to attack his opponent somewhere. He chose calling the incumbent city representative a Republican. That would've been good if it weren't for the fact that this opponent has voted Democratic more often than Montes has, is a long-time union man, and is married to the Chair of the El Paso County Democratic Party. So calling him a Republican is a tough sell, but nonetheless he and his handler Jeremy Jordan banked hard on that attack line and sent out a mailer calling Rivera a Republican because he attended an event with the GOP once.
And look, I'm the biggest critique of the GOP, their policies, and locally - their complete and utter disdain for rules and regulations surrounding the virus.
But I'd take that attack line more seriously from Montes if he weren't all buddy-buddy with this guy:
Come on, I've documented just how much an extremist conservative he is several times. Remember all that crazy and nasty stuff he said about Obama and Hillary? Remember how much of pro-Trump guy he is?
Yeah, so do I.
Aaron Montes pointing fingers about being buddies with Republicans is just a complete joke.
Speaking of jokes...

Maria Ramirez...Really. Again?
Okay so I don't know who is running her campaign but somebody smack that person. I received a mailer from Ramirez that had the nerve to say "Balanced by honesty..." on one side - and then on the other side was an endorsement from the El Paso Times.
Great, no ay pedo.
Except one problem - the endorsement was from 19 years ago! Who on earth would be dumb / dishonest enough to try to sneak that one by voters? Seriously there had to be some conversation about whether or not to use an almost two decades old endorsement. Was there no adult in the room that said, hey maybe this isn't such a good idea to be talking about honesty and then trying to trick voters into thinking the El Paso Times endorsed her for this race and this position?
Also, if Maria Ramirez's name sounds familiar its because she's run a few times for various judicial positions. She's the one who was once cited an incident at the federal courthouse where if memory serves she just parked in front and went inside refusing to show ID when asked to by court security.
That says a LOT about temperament. I think thats why she always comes up short in elections.
Aside from the temperament issue, its her quote in the El Paso Times regarding the incident, and the fact that she was yelling at the officers that is the most problematic. On the one hand she says how much she regrets it, but then later says "it is considered a ticket and everyone has gone a ticket...".
She also puts the AMVETS logo on her mailer and puts the word supporter underneath, but to me its clearly meant to give the impression she is somehow endorsed by AMVETS, otherwise why bother including it?

Alexsandra Annello's Branding
I don't think you can find a soul in El Paso who thinks the city of El Paso is doing a good job handling the pandemic. The only member of council who seems to care at all about enforcement of rules are Reps Rivera, Svarzbein, and Salcido.
Veronica Carbajal and Carlos Gallinar have both pointed out a litany of situations in a recent debate about how the city is failing to deal with the pandemic. County Commissioner David Stout recently called out the city for not being able to manage the virus dnd its gotten to the point that County Judge Samaniego looks like he's just gone around the city to try to implement changes that might actually address the spike in new cases.
The city's current plan of having a press conference that never starts on time, never really fully answer's questions, and never seems to have data that adds up clearly hasn't worked, so it looks like the County had to step in to issue more strict rules to deal with the situation.
City Rep Annello's response? Take the County Judge's orders and slap her logo and title on them.
No seriously, I'm not making that up.
She did that.
Don't believe me? Well see for yourself:
I guess to make it look like she's actually doing something? Who knows, but its weird.
