Shawn Nixon - Enough is Enough?

Okay, Shawn Nixon has inspired me to pay more attention to the municipal elections because once I heard this latest desmadre, I knew it was time to focus on the city council races.

I've handled him with kid gloves previously because, well despite what many of you think, Ol' LionStar does in fact, have a heart. I felt sorry for the vato if I'm being honest.

But at some point, there's no room for feeling sorry for a guy. I don't know what made him think he'd be a viable candidate for City Council but the guy has told some real whoppers. From what I know, his campaign experience is limited to running VAN for Marlene Gonzalez's campaign and he's BFF's to her sister, Mayte Gonzalez.

Mayte is apparently trying to distance herself from him now, though I don't know how thats possible. Here's a couple pics of Nixon...one with Marlene Gonzalez...

Oh wait...lets zoom in a little closer...

Anywho...this guy has told a lot of stories that are just flat-out untrue and quite frankly, its a little embarrassing to talk about them all. At one point he said he won a Pulitzer Prize for "Investigative Reporter" on his Facebook page. He appears to have made this claim while being a reporter at Action News WPVI TV-6, an ABC affiliate in Philadelphia.

That is a screenshot from his FB page a while back. Lately his MO has been to blame stuff on being hacked, but this is way before he came up with that narrative.

I was unable to confirm that he was ever an employee at that station.

But...fear not, I CAN confirm that he never received a Pulitzer for Investigative Reporting. Here is a list of all the winners in that category going back to 1985. Obviously, his name is not on that list.

For those of you that are skeptical and think that its possible Nixon never made that claim, well fear not, ol' LionStar won't let ya down...I always have screenshots...

Obviously it wasn't true.

The Washington Post, CNN and other national news outlets had to issue corrections to a stories that featured Nixon who claimed to have been working at the Walmart on August 3 on the day of the shooting. That also turned out to be a lie. Click on this link to read a quick post on The Hill explaining that Walmart "did not employ Nixon at its El Paso location".

The audacity of Nixon trying to run for office after getting caught lying about working at the Walmart on August 3rd is breath-taking, but somehow Mayte Gonzalez and the rest of that team didn't have a problem having him work on their campaign.

Lately, he's been lock-step with the rest of Team Gonzalez and supporting Republican candidate for the 383rd Family Court Phyllis Gonzalez, who is taking on Lyda Ness Garcia in the November General Election.

Need proof? Well I thought you might. So I took screenshots.

C'mon...you know there's always screenshots...

The Marlene / Mayte Gonzalez click should assumed to be part of their field director's movida of supporting a Republican candidate, especially considering the Caballero sisters and the rest of their coven are also supporting her...

Normally you'd think lying about this amount of stuff would've been the end of someone running. Normally you'd think local media would've covered some of it, if not all of it. But the conglomeration of media has had a really negative impact on local coverage. But just when you think it can't get any worse with Nixon, I assure you it has.

Nixon has had several issues related to money. He can't seem to pay campaign bills. Earlier in the campaign he didn't pay for services and he lied and said that it was a mistake in finances between his payment to the individual and an alleged contribution to a state representative. No transaction of that nature occurred.

A construction company is seeking payment for work done on his campaign headquarters.

Nixon - who has a demonstrated history of not telling the truth - alleged that someone broke into his campaign headquarters. He apparently contracted some dignitary protection following that incident and when it came time to pay the off-duty law enforcement, the check bounced.

Mr. Nixon is now on his eighth - count them, eighth campaign treasurer. I have never seen a campaign have that many treasurers in their career, much less in one campaign. That alone should scare people - but Nixon has a lot of financial issues and that should be a major issue for voters because they are trying to hire someone to manage millions of dollars of public funds.

Then there's the "Trap House" Facebook live video from earlier tonight. HO-LY SHIT!

I haven't seen something this crazy on social media since the leave Britney alone YouTube video!

Seriously, this is CRAY! He started off by assuring people he's not mentally ill. The last candidate I remember that tried to assure people that he wasn't mentally ill was Donald Trump. Nixon was all over the place but the meeting was basically an hour of Nixon trying to deflect from a seemingly endless stream of accusations relating to financial misdealing.

Then he mentioned something about being HIV positive, which I don't know why is remotely relevant. Seriously, it was super strange.

One of the strangest things is the fact that he says he has 37 employees...I've worked on a LOT of campaigns. I've been involved in some very high profile races. I have NEVER been involved in an El Paso race that has had 37 employees. If he has 37 employees, thats the most employees I've seen in any campaign, ever, in the history of El Paso, to include Beto's Senate and Presidential race.

Its so bad apparently there are people demonstrating outside this guy's campaign headquarters.

The allegations of financial misdealing go all the way back to high school. Someone accused him of financial irregularities going all the way back to when he was the mascot at his high school.

Obviously, this guy isn't a serious candidate.

And not to pick on the Northeast but...come on...whenever you hear of some crazy ass shit like this, you just KNOW its from the Northeast!

Look, Nixon is by no means a serious candidate. Hell, neither are most of the candidates running in that race - and not just because they are all from the Northeast. Its just that he, and most of the other candidates in that race are a complete joke and a waste of time. Voters have absolutely no reason to take any of them seriously. Until the Northeast decides they want to field serious candidates with a resume, some experience, some ideas, and a genuine plan for how to make that part of town a better place, they are going to continue to suffer from the fact that people don't take them seriously.

At some point people in the Northeast have to get sick and tired of being a joke.

I think there's a real chance for the Northeast to overcome that stigma. But they aren't going to get there by voting for cheesy vibes and the seemingly mentally ill.

So...to all of you in the Northeast that are sick and tired of being an after thought and want to be taken seriously... for the love of all that is holy...give us a REASON to take you seriously!

Give us candidates we can take seriously for a change!

Why?

Because honestly...enough is enough.
