Bethany Hatch, El Paso's Marie Antionette....

"Let them eat cake..." a phrase attributed to Marie Antionette - spouse of King Louie XVI of France. It was a commentary on decadence and the disconnect between the wealthy ruling class of France and your everyday commoner.

And the El Paso GOP apparently is trying to take the crown.

In probably the most douchey, tone-deaf political fundraiser in the history of El Paso, El Paso Republican Party Chairman Rick Seeberger appears to have set up a fundraiser that was a semi-formal wine tasting for Bethany Hatch, the next Republic sacrificial lamb for the Senate seat that is being left vacant by State Senator Jose Rodriguez.

Average El Pasoans are still standing (parking) in long lines to get basics from food banks during the Pandemic, but Seeberger and Hatch have the most tone-deaf fundraiser I have ever seen.

While so many people are hurting during the pandemic, this is their fundraiser idea....

Its the ultimate sign of "let them eat cake".

El Pasoans are hurting economically right now and the party that is trying to make the pitch to working class people are hosting a wine tasting. I mean I don't even want to get into the social distancing problems with events like these, but do you think your average working class El Pasoan that you're trying to whoo into your camp will show up to a wine tasting fundraiser?

Hell no. Wealthy white and mostly- retired Republicans will be there. The only working class El Pasoans that will be in attendance will be the employees at Grace Garden.

Now look, lets be real.

Hatch isn't going to win. She's not even going to be competitive.

None of the Republicans are, its just election math. Blanco and the rest of the Democrats are gonna steam roll the Republicans in November. I know, they get their little hopes up every year around November like Cowboy fans who woke up Monday and started their annual "we're gonna to the Super Bowl" chants.

But like every year following the last game of the season for Cowboys fans, November 4th the Republicans are gonna be crying, finding excuses, and saying "wait til next year".

So whether or not the Republicans are going to win isn't the question, again they're not gonna win. But a couple of weeks ago that collection of anti-masker Branch Covidians were taking to the streets talking about how we had to open up businesses again because people were hurting so badly because of the economy.

This whole thing has a Dori Fenenbock feel to it. At least Hatch isn't having a "menudazo" lol.

But that ladies and gentlemen, is the El Paso GOP under Rick Seeberger and his clan. Oh, but wait until you hear about that crazy ass "emergency" meeting they had last night...
