Eddie Holguin Trying to Regain Power at Tejanos

Creepiest Christmas Card Ever! Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

Everyone knows things are getting really bad for the Holguin's in the Party, but Eddie Holguin just can't seem to let his grip on power go. Wait til you see the latest shady-ass movida Team Holguin is trying to engineer.

And this one is shady, even for the Holguins.

But before reading on, I want you all to ask yourselves an important question. What would make Team Holguin so hell-bent on staying in control of the Tejano Democrats?

I can't think of an answer other than the almighty dollar.

Anywho, Eddie got his allies within the Tejano Democrats together, most of which are on the executive committee, and are trying to kick out two members of the Tejano Democrats completely out of the organization.

They are trying to use the Bylaws of the Tejano Democrats to engineer their little movida. Honestly, I don't know what they think they are trying to accomplish. Its not like the members haven't been watching what has been going on over the last few months. Its not like they don't know that Eddie Holguin is in violation of the organization's Bylaws.

That little fact doesn't go away just because Eddie doesn't like it.

The violation is that according to the Tejano Bylaws, officers in the organization are not allowed to endorse or campaign for a candidate unless and until said candidates is endorsed by the organization. Eddie Holguin has Sun Circle Strategic Group. He has clients that pay him to run their campaigns. So he is very clearly in violation of the Tejano Bylaws.

But he's not the only officer in Tejanos that is in violation of that rule. His business partner Lily Limón is also an officer. She's one of the Vice Chairs.

So she shouldn't be an officer anymore.

Neither should the other Vice Chair - Chris Acosta. She's been campaigning for a candidate for a long time.

Eddie got his crew together that make up part of the Executive Committee got together and sent this letter to the new Tejano Democrats Chairwoman Mary Bowles-Gasca. If you read the letter it sounds all nice and official doesn't it?

Lol, except its complete bullshit.

Before I get to the BS, let me point out just how shady Team Holguin is.

They are trying to not just remove Bowles-Gasca as chair, but they are also trying to remove her from the organization COMPLETELY. So let me show you how the Holguins roll - Bowles-Gasca has been a member for years. She spearheads one of the major fundraisers for the Party. She's been involved with Tejanos for years and has - and currently does - serve as a statewide officer in the organization.

And because she dared to stand up to Eddie Holguin - she's now targeted to be completely kicked out of the organization by Team Holguin. Thats what happens when you get in the way of the Holguin family's ambition.

People like Linda Gonzalez-Hensgen should pay close attention to what is going on. One day you're the Holguin's friend - until they don't need you anymore. Then they try to take you out.

Anywho, lets get back to their movida. Team Holguin wants to call Mary Bowles Gasca and another member, Anna Dominguez, to a meeting with the "Executive Committee" for a "formal hearing which is private and confidential."

In other words - they don't want the rest of the membership to see what they are up to. They want to operate in some secret shadow meeting - completely away from the scrutiny of the membership.

Shady, right? Seriously, if everything they were doing was on the up-and-up, they'd do it in plain view of the membership. But they don't want this in front of the membership because Team Holguin knows the membership is fed up with them.

But wait, it gets worse.

Team Holguin wants this meeting at the home of one of the "Executive Committee" members - but the meeting is to be held on sovereign land at the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo. I know the Pueblo has a pretty strict rule about no politics on the Rez, so I wonder if they even know this little shadow meeting is evening happening?

Now I put the words executive committee in quotations earlier for a reason. Team Holguin didn't actually get the real Executive Committee together. If they did, it would include the Tejano Chair - Mary Bowles-Gasca and the Secretary Isela Castañon-Williams. But they actually left Bowles-Gasca out and Isela Castañon -Williams, and for whatever reason included Frank Ortiz, who's not even a member of the Executive Committee. The Bylaws state the organization's treasurer is a member of the committee but not the PAC treasurer.

I know, its some Mickey Mouse bullshit. And they have absolutely no excuse for not including Castañon-Williams - other than they know she won't go along with their little movida. Which shows their little hearing is nothing more than an exercise in theater.

But lets circle back to the money angle here. Only money would make an Holguin go to the extreme of trying to completely eliminating long-time members from the organization because they committed the unforgivable sin of standing in their way.

Eddie probably made big promises to his clients with that Tejano money. Ironically you don't see him claiming that the endorsement meeting he said was canceled was invalid - because most of his candidates got the endorsement.

Including his wife. So he's trying to have it both ways.

Hell, for all we know they are trying to hide books completely from anyone else's scrutiny. You have to ask yourself, why?

What is Team Holguin hiding?

Okay, to wrap up this post - lets get back to the BS that they were "charging" Chairwoman Bowles-Gasca with...y'all can read so I won't read it back to you. But I do want to point out two things - one, none of those "charges" are outlined in the charter and two, "conduct injuring the good name of the organization, disturbing its well-being and / or hampering it in its work" should be applied to Eddie Holguin himself and someone should pursue to remove him - and the treasurer that signed the checks - for paying HIMSELF with club funds.

Because Team Holguin being shady as hell is definitely "conduct injuring the good name of the organization..."

This letter shows that if you do something they don't like, they will try to eliminate you. No one in Tejano Democrats is safe if this movida is successful. This could happen to any member.
