PD Union: Show Me The Money...
So a lot of people want to know how much Cassandra Hernandez' fiancé is making from the PD union to run the bond election that is happening today.
You've no doubt received at least one mailer about it, which was sent citywide and was not inexpensive.
You may have received a door tag from the bond if you live in District 3 because the two campaigns appear to be coordinating efforts.
I wanted to see if either campaign filed that coordination correctly and there is no expenditure to the PD union on the Hernandez reports, either paid or in-kind.
No dice.
On her 30 day report she shows a contribution FROM the Municipal Police Officers' Association. Here's a screenshot of the report and the contribution:
But I went to double check the El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association's reports to see how much they spent and if they really gave Hernandez's live-in fiancé the amount of money I heard they gave him and guess what?
No filings.
They filed for a treasurer, but they never filed a 30 day report nor an 8 day report. They have probably spent more money in this election cycle than anyone else and yet there are no filings.
That is clearly not complying with campaign finance laws.
As you can see here in this screenshot, there are no reports filed.
I doubled checked by calling the City Clerk's Office to see if there was an error and they indicated that there were no reports turned in for them to post on the city website.
So an entity that probably spent more money than anyone else to pass a very large bond has failed to report any of their financial transactions. We know for a fact that there was at least one transaction to report because Hernandez has the contribution on here report.
We know that there was money spent on mail and door hangers (at least) because I have one of each. But none of that was reported.
UPDATE: It appears they may be filing erroneously with the TEC.
