Tamayo's Embarrassing Interview

Mayor Pro-Temp Claudia Ordaz-Perez announced today that she was going to run for HD76, a seat vacated by Cesar Blanco who is now running for senator - and Elisa Tamayo gave a cringe-worthy interview that really makes the delegation look bad. I'll get to that in a minute, so walk with me...

Ordaz Perez announced her candidacy at the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, with the Ysleta Mission as a backdrop, which was a start contrast to Elisa Tamayo, the hand-picked candidate of the delegation, who has spent more years living in Austin than El Paso. Tamayo announced her campaign from Austin and then did a formal announcement for the HD76 in another State Rep's district. I guess that makes sense because the reason she's being picked by the delegation is precisely because they want her to do what benefits them, not necessarily her district.

But don't take MY word for it - one of the state reps that came out to endorse Tamayo actually articulated pretty clearly that the delegations priorities are what Tamayo will do for them. I'll demonstrate that in a minute, calmala!

Anywho, so much for Tamayo knowing the district and the needs of the community - she apparently doesn't even know where the district even is. Meanwhile, Ordaz Perez announced her campaign around the corner from her home in front of the Ysleta Mission.

Ordaz Perez laid out her policy priorities, one of which is to make it a requirement that candidates for state representative actually live in the districts that they want to represent. You'd think that would be a no-brainer, but apparently it isn't a requirement - which explains the entire Tamayo candidacy.

But the media coverage of Ordaz Perez's announcement meant that they followed up with Tamayo. So they asked Tamayo some questions and she face-planted. I think the last time I saw a candidate that didn't know what they were talking about to the degree that Tamayo embarrassed herself was probably David Saucedo.

And that is giving her a compliment because no one can say that Saucedo doesn't know El Paso.

Now lets go to the video, shall we? Click here to see the entire story from KVIA.

Tamayo is asked some basic questions and she completely face-plants.

And that makes the delegation look bad because most of them came out endorsing her, in the same template as Cesar Blanco came out with endorsements, all saying how great she is and how knowledgeable she is about state issues.

Here's a really great example of what I mean. Tamayo rolled out her endorsements from the delegation and this one from Joe Moody talks about how "she'll be able to hit the ground running on day one..."

Maybe by "hit the ground running" he meant stumble out of the starting blocks.

Meh - tomato, Tamayo.

My favorite part of his quote is talking about her "years" of public service. As we say in the valley, ay -ay! She's 27, not 37!

Nearly all of the delegation use some variation of the sentiment that Tamayo is a fighter for HD 76. Well for starters she's hardly lived in the district. Second, if she was such a fighter for HD 76, then where was she when a medical waste facility tried to locate into HD 76? I mean she hardly seems to know where HD 76 actually is, but she was most certainly not advocating against the facility. I mean she attended a hearing once and read a letter from her boss, which in hindsight was probably strategically done as part of her would-be coronation.

But as a resident of HD 76, she has no footprint of being involved in that issue. Thousands of residents signed petitions opposing the facility. Hundreds showed up at a community meeting at Del Valle High School to voice their opposition to the facility. Dozens filed motions to overturn the approval of the location by thee TCEQ.

Where was this fighter with years of government assistance? No petition opposing the facility. No motion to overturn. Not even a strongly worded email opposing the facility locating into HD 76.

Dude, I can't even find a Facebook post about it.

NADA!

So let me circle back to a point I made earlier in this post about how the delegation seems to be more interested in who THEY want than what the community needs. I think the quote from State Rep Mary Gonzalez demonstrates exactly how the delegation is more concerned about Tamayo being good for them:

Notice that she prioritizing the delegation over the community...

Up next, Tamayo is now alleging that her opponent is "spreading lies" about her...I'll show you some interesting findings in an open records request I did.

Also, the more I look at that logo, the more it looks like a giant purple poop emoji.
