Holguin's Money Funnel Story
Okay I've heard from several people within the Party about the explanation given regarding money that went from the El Paso County Democratic Party to Eddie Holguin's consulting firm under Iliana Holguin's watch, which was around $9,000. Click here if you missed that post.
I'm even more annoyed now at this movida and how it went down.
Essentially they are saying that they have receipts and statements that show the money was just a reimbursement to the Holguin business for the cost of the mailers and for postage. Well, isn't that convenient? It would be if there weren't a few giant holes in their story.
So first of all - its a political consulting business located right next to the El Paso County Democratic Party Headquarters and you're telling me no profit was made? You think its next door to the Party Offices by accident? More on that in another post, but we'll leave that one and come back to it.
Second, and seriously this part is the most ridiculously obvious part that simply cannot be explained away, Iliana Holguin oversaw $9,000 going to her husband (even if it was a reimbursement) for mailers that benefitted her husband's paying client, who then turned around and appointed her to the UMC Board, advancing her political career!
You're telling me receipts and statements explain away that part? Uh, no.
But this is the part that annoys me the most - certain people were reached out to in order to "explain" the expenditures and to say my claims were "false". Okay, now their calling me a liar and I'm really pissed now - because I posted screenshots of the expenditures. Screenshots of their own damn finance reports!
They must really think people are stupid. Campaign finance reports are public documents and anyone can search for them. Click this link and you'll be taken to the ones I was looking at if you don't believe me.
And when you do, you're going to see a big fat hole in their story, which will really piss off those of you that have been fed the Party Line, pun intended.
The idea that they have statements and receipts that show that the 9 grand was just a reimbursement for printing in postage doesn't jive, again, with their own reports. Here's one of the expenditures Chairwoman Holguin authorized to her husband's firm:
As you can see, it very clearly says it is for a "mailout". Make note of the date, November 5.
And on the VERY SAME REPORT, there are separate expenses listed for ::drumroll:: you guessed it....POSTAGE!
Postage is listed as a separate expense - and made payable to the US Postal Service, not Sun Circle Strategic Group - on the very same day.
I included a couple of other listings from the same report that show that postage was paid for directly to the US Postal Service, not Sun Circle.
These are their own reports, so I'll be damn if I let them call me a liar.
And mind you - none of their excuses or explanations make the fact that the mailers were for her husbands client that turned around and appointed her to the UMC Board go away.
But like I said, there's even more interesting stuff I've touched upon that I'll get back to later on.
