Josh Carter & Political Betrayal

Betrayal has been a part of politics since the days of Julius Caesar being stabbed in the streets of Rome by the person closest to him, Brutus.

"Et tu Brute?", as Shakespear once wrote...

In politics, loyalty is the coin of the realm. Without it, you have nothing.

Sometimes staff leave an office and go on to other things. Sometimes its under good terms, sometimes its under bad terms. Sometimes a staffer goes to work with another elected official. Sometimes, not often, they go to work for a rival elected official.

But one thing you never do, is what Josh Carter has done to his former boss. Its a level of betrayal that defines you forever after you do it. Its straight up weasel-level stuff and is why no one will ever trust the guy again.

Y'all remember Josh Carter right? He was Mary's staffer that was always running for something and could never win. His last effort was in Socorro ISD for the Montwood area trustee position. He had every single advantage possible and still came in an embarrassing third place.

He's also the guy that has been trying to influence politics in San Elizario for a couple of years now.

But through all the controversy and headaches, his boss stood by him.

And how does Carter pay back his boss?

By going to work for the firm that has been trying to unseat her since the first time she ran for the seat.

Yep, that is some novela-level betrayal on the part of Josh Carter. He went to work for Forma Group, who has spent countless hours and dollars trying to get Gonzalez out of her seat.

And he's bragging about it.

Gonzalez kept that guy on board no matter how much of a distraction he was to her office, no matter how much controversy he was - and trust me there is so much that she got heat for that public doesn't know she got heat about - and that is how her pays her back?

I mean, I obviously know and Carter knows I know...

So now Carter moved to San Elizario, probably for the purposes of running for office - again. More on that and why my friends in San Elizario should never elect that guy to anything later...

Forma has been looking for someone that knows how to work field, but they are apparently really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point. Carter doesn't know anything about campaigning - as evidenced by the fact that he's never won an election. He's never been a force in Gonzalez's campaigns.

Its a sign that Forma wants to go after Gonzalez (again), but I can't imagine what benefit Carter is to that effort. He's no campaign strategist and not a deep policy guy either. Best case scenario, Josh Carter will be able to tell them how Gonzalez likes her coffee. That is probably the extent of the usefulness of his knowledge.

One thing is for sure, that guy has demonstrated that no one should ever trust him again unless they want a knife in their back.
