Pedro Aguero - The Real Person Behind "Conservative Anthony"

Did you ever see the movie 8 Mile with Eminem? At the end he has a rap battle with a guy who eventually went on to be an Avenger. In the rap battle Eminem pretty much exposes the vato for being a fraud. The guy's real name was Clarence, he went to private school, and he came from a stable home with both parents who had a "real good marriage".

Essentially he showed that the guy was a big phony.

So is "Conservative Anthony". I guess it would only be appropriate for me to start off this part the way Eminem did..."I know something about you..."

Conservative Anthony is a made-up character. His real name is Pedro Aguero and he's been convicted of multiple felonies. He goes by the new moniker presumably to hide from his past of drugs, alcohol, and violence against women.

The last time I called him out on his record, he tried to explain it away by acknowledging making "a mistake" but its his past and he's moved on. Back then I was specifically referring to what he went to prison for, which was an incident in which he was drunk, drove down the wrong side of the freeway, slammed into another vehicle and nearly killed two people. Sorry vato, but you're not getting off that easy by trying to make it sound like your felonious past was one mistake.

Everyone makes mistakes and people should be given a second chance. Hell many states give people multiple chances, which is why you have so-called Three Strikes Laws. Well Pedro Aguero, aka Conservative Anthony would need a whole crew of umpires to count his strikes. In fact, Aguero had 9 strikes, enough to strike out the side.

And he leads a trail of victims in his wake...

Strike 1. According to court documents on September 14, 2010 Aguero dragged one of his female victims "by her hair from the living room to the bedroom". He was placed on probation for that offense. He was ALREADY on probation for ANOTHER offense. He failed to notify his PO of the arrest and he therefore had his probation revoked.

Strike 2. According to an Information filed by the State of Texas, Pedro Aguero assaulted another female victim - meaning not the same women he later assaulted in 2010, by "striking" the victim in the face and then "kicking" the defending "about the body". The court documents also contained a report filed by the El Paso Police Department that outlined what transpired that evening. According to the report the defendant (Pedro Aguero) and the victim ended up being at the same bar that evening, but were there separately. They had apparently dated in the past. The victim recognized near the end of the night that Pedro Aguero (aka Conservative Anthony) was intoxicated. She offered to drive him home. During the drive to the Aguero's home, he tried to kiss the victim and she refused his advances. He became angry and punched the victim in the side of the face with a closed fist. This strike caused the victims head to hit the driver's side window and she indicated that she blacked out momentarily. She then indicated that she pulled over at the next exit. The report goes on to indicate that following the exit from the freeway that the two continued to argue after Aguero exited the vehicle. Aguero then punched the victim in the head again and she fell to the ground at which time Aguero kicked the victim in the torso. The document then indicates that Aguero broke the victims cell phone and fled the scene. The officer filing the report indicated that he observed redness on the victims face and a bump on the back of the victim's head.

Strike 3. In November 2003 Aguero was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Strike 4. In May 2004 Aguero was arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Strike 5. In May 2008 Aguero was arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.

Strike 6. In November 2008 Aguero was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (again).

Strike 7. A month later, in December 2008 Aguero was arrested for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.

Strike 8. In August 2009 Aguero was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Strike 9. In November 2009 Aguero was arrested on charges of Criminal Trespass.

So while the aspiring congressional candidate would have you believe he's a changed man who only had a small misdemeanor or two in his past, the reality is that he's a felon with a long arrest record who clearly has been given multiple chances and hasn't learned from them.

Typically the local GOP only puts up one sacrificial lamb to get destroyed in the November primary but the last GOP primary was actually contested. There's a faction within the GOP that sees him, his background and his latest activities as a liability and are going to support another candidate, which is why you'll see a contested primary.

This is why the RNC rarely puts much effort behind a Republican congressional candidate in El Paso.

Knowing he had a criminal trespass charge on his record is likely going to get the attention of local non-profits and agencies that have been involved in the refugee crisis here on the border. "Conservative Anthony", aka Pedro Aguero gained notoriety around Christmas time when he started following around asylum seekers which a camera.

He was eventually caught by a community member when he was lurking in between vehicles at the Downtown Greyhound Bus Terminal.

But what might surprise a lot of followers of "Conservative Anthony" is that not so long ago, he was writing for a publication that was almost anarchist. So Conservative Anthony was pretty much Anarchist Andy not so long ago. Speaking of not so long ago...Aguero was also a Beto supporter at one time.

Look, the reality is that Aguero is the latest I'm a long line of jokes of candidates run by the local Republican Party. His candidacy shouldn't be taken seriously. He is by no means, a serious candidate. That probably annoys the leadership of the local Republican Party, but they aren't going to do anything about it and they will lose their chance to run a more tradition Republican.

Not that it matters because whomever they run is going to lose.

But the threat Aguero, aka Conservative Anthony, is to the safety of others in this community - as he's demonstrated on multiple occasions - should clearly be taken seriously.

I've seen him in action and how he conducts himself. He tries to bully people. He's overly aggressive and I always figured it was because he's such a small guy. You know, classic Napoleon complex. There was a debate during the last election cycle between Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and the last Republican sacrificial lamb and he and some of his Republi-bros were super eager to ambush her. He became visibly angry when the organizers of the event changed the format, which it turns out prevented them from being able to ambush her.

Lately he attends her town hall meetings to act foolish.

But things are different now. Now HE'S the candidate. Now people can put him on the spot and ask him questions. Its a matter of time before you see video of him running off into a parking lot away from a news camera and into a waiting vehicle to avoid media.

And he'll cry foul.

"Conservative Anthony" isn't what he tells his followers he is. He basically changes character to wherever he'll gain acceptance from people. No one goes from far left to far right in that short of a period of time through some genuine conversion.

He's just been looking for a place to belong. That is why even his name is fake.

And conservatives have been looking for a brown face to front their racist and xenophobic policies so that they can they aren't racist.
