Bursting Bubbles

Okay, I'll be quick about this post because there's a lot of chatter going around and some people are experiencing some visions of grandeur and apparently don't have anyone around them that will tell them the truth.

So allow me...

Cassandra Hernandez - apparently someone put it in her head that she was viable for something. It's the political rumor that just won't die, but its actually pretty damn funny. Now don't laugh, but apparently they were kicking around the idea of Hernandez running for mayor. Someone close to her was asked if it was true and gave a non-answer response. She's already got people circling in the waters to run for her city council seat and I think she'd have a hard time holding on to it, I don't know what on earth gave her the idea that she would be viable for mayor, especially when you see the amount of money Leeser and Margo raised. Seriously, the last thing she wants is Forma whacking her for panty-gate and the assault thing in a mailer. She'd be toast. Its one thing to have someone as inept as Jaime Barceleau try to leverage a message in a council race, its a whole other trip when you're running for mayor. You're automatically under more scrutiny and a mailer about her past when wreck her big time. And that isn't even counting that whole, what is in my opinion a really shady deal, between her fiancé Jeremy Jordan and the PD union.

Tom Buchino - I guess word on the street is that Tom Buchino is considering a run for sheriff as a Democrat. I've heard this kicked around for a few months now and someone even posted a comment to that affect here on the LSB recently. Normally upon hearing something as outrageous as this I'd tell someone to do a quick health and welfare check on the ol' Sergeant Major. Here's the reality, Buchino was trounced in the last election cycle and people have a hard time with the authenticity of a cowboy from Jersey. They'd have an even harder time with him running as a Democrat when he's so very obviously a Trump supporter. I've lost track of how many screenshots I have of things he's said in support of Trump. Anyone connected to Trump is going to have a very difficult time getting any traction in a Democratic Party primary because Trump support is a major litmus test. Its the exact reason why Carrillo is never going to be a strong opponent of Wiles, much less will it help Buchino. And here's the bigger problem for Buchino, the union is supporting Wiles. I don't know what strange set of circumstances led from the union supporting a Republican against Wiles in the last election cycle to Wiles having their support, but that is the new political reality.

Dori Fenenbock - Yes, there's a blast from the recent past, que no? Since there's been a "will he, or won't he" buzz going about town regarding Speaker Pro Tem Joe Moody for awhile now, Dori Fenenbock has apparently been exploring the idea of running. Now there's been talk of her running for Senator Rodriguez' seat should he consider retirement, and now the talk of Moody's seat. I don't know what makes her think she's viable. She got destroyed by Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and  was completely defined by the fact that her voting record was Republican until she decided she wanted to run for Congress as Democrat. Nothing has changed. Democrats don't like people that aren't Democrats running as Democrats. What did I just say about Carrillo and Buchino? Same thing. Now to be clear, the rumor of her running is 100% predicated on Joe Moody NOT running for reelection. Moody would stomp a mud hole in here and walk it dry (that's for all you Stone Cold fans out there, and you know who you are...) Fenenbock is a perfect example of someone's ambition getting a head of them. You know a few years ago, had she not gotten visions of grandeur, she could've run for Niland's seat after she left council. She probably would have easily won a seat on council and had an opportunity to work her way up toward another seat. Instead she over-extended herself and became a cliche.

Max Grossman - I heard that joke of a Dandy is going to run his own candidate for mayor... a "true conservative". Hear that Duranguito people? Your white savior is a Trump lover who wants to elect another Republican as mayor. It sounds like El Paso's very own version of Donald Trump may be considering the bid himself. That is the next best thing I've heard since someone tried to float the idea of Norma Chavez running for something again! Is it my birthday again? Someone tell Grossman two things, one - I'm gonna enjoy suing his ass for lying about me, and two - stick to playing dress-up and doing tours instead of trying to be in politics. Didn't he learn his lesson from the last time all the candidates associated with him got wiped out? Hey while you're at it, tell that fool I live in Ysleta, not Horizon. Pinche Dandy.

The big takeaways from this post area that one, if you are even remotely related to the GOP in this era and are trying to run as a Democrat, don't expect it to go well and two, never over-extend yourself politically. Its always healthy to surround yourself with people that will tell you the truth, not what you want to hear. The most dangerous thing someone can do is politics is surround themselves with Yes People instead of genuine friends.

Also, completely unrelated sidebar - I made a friendly gentleman's wager with a buddy this week about a political thing. I'm looking forward to collecting my winnings...
