Careful Who You Vote For...a Warning
There appear to be very explicit photos of a school board candidate on a porn site that is live.
Right now.
Today.
And the creepy thing about it is that the headline to the site says "Capturing the erotic essence of youth."
It gets far creepier and I'm not exaggerating. It's bad.
Its one of those, only in El Paso sort of things.
It was leaked to me a few days ago and I have been struggling with what to do with it. I think voters should know and then make their decision on whether or not they should vote for this person.
No laws appear to be broken and the photos are obviously taken a few years ago.
But its a school board candidate. And they are explicit and they are on a porn site. There's no getting around that.
This cycle has scrutinized education, employment, addresses, temperament, campaign consultants, and a whole host of other things - you'd think this would be something that would also be scrutinized. I mean if all those factors are relevant to voters, and I believe they are, this should be too.
At the very least, it shows incredibly poor judgment to know that this is out there - and still run for a position of public trust and one that involves kids. I think its not the thing we want kids to aspire to do.
I'm no prude about porn - but Jesus Christ people, allegedly explicit photos of a candidate on a porn site? You gotta be kidding me.
The reality is that if it was leaked to me, odds are I wasn't and won't be the only person its leaked to. If this person is elected - think of how this town is going to look having a school board member who is currently on a porn site.
I felt like this was a news story, not just a blog item. Above my pay grade if you will. So I gave it to real journalists to cover and I chose not to post the name of the candidate or the link to the site because as I said earlier, I think its something journalists should scrutinize.
So if this person is actually elected tomorrow, its not on my conscience, I tried to do the right thing.
Right now.
