Gonzalez Clarifies Endorsement
I spoke with State Rep Mary Gonzalez and she clarified her support for whichever Castro brother it is that is running for President.
She's sticking by her endorsement and after hearing her out, I completely understand it.
Gonzalez has known the Castros since she was a teenager and loyalty is the coin of the realm in politics.
For Gonzalez in particular, she's got a lot of candidates that she can identify with, so picking any one of them is probably problematic. There are women candidates, LGBT candidates, a Latino candidate, and a candidate from El Paso.
So she's sort of damned if she does, damned if she doesn't right now.
To punctuate this, she was asked to endorse whichever Castro brother it is that is running for president early on. She's known them for years. She didn't know Beto was getting in the race at the time and she didn't know the endorsement would be released on the day that Castro released it.
