Berglund Disses Dems & Courts GOP

Xavier Miranda's candidate for EPISD School Board Trustee Gary Berglund, ditched the El Paso County Democratic Party's candidate forum despite every accommodation made for him to attend, but apparently made it a priority to attend the GOP candidate forum over the weekend.

I don't fault him for going, its a non-partisan race. I fault him for going after having dissed the Democratic Party's forum after they made accommodations for him to be able to attend.

Here is a picture from the forum where you can see Mr. Berglund addressing the crowd at the GOP headquarters. As you can see the banner behind him says West El Paso Republican Women and there are anti-Clinton signs hanging in the background.

It is also pretty ironic considering Xavier Miranda attended the forum that was sponsored by the local El Paso County Democratic Party.

If you recall, I wrote about it a while back, that was the forum in which Miranda accosted one of the candidates who chose not to attend the forum that he is trying to put on later in the election cycle. Miranda came under scrutiny when he went on a Facebook rant about how he was upset that the union endorsed Freddy Klayel-Avalos over Berglund, a teacher.

Interestingly being a teacher is Mr. Berglund's big pitch to voters, which is funny when you consider that a lot of the folks on the EPISD Board now have backgrounds (allegedly, in the case of Loweree) in teaching and we see how well that has been working out, amirite?

But for me the biggest surprise over the weekend wasn't just that Berglund dissed the El Paso Democratic Party in favor of the GOP...

If you look carefully at the above picture you might notice something that frankly has thrown me for a loop. I simply can't find a legitimate explanation for it and its a total mystery to me. I almost didn't even notice it. I had to look at the picture a few times because I just couldn't believe my eyes.

Have you caught it yet?

No?

Look really close...

It was the food.

For a party that pretty much hates Mexicans, and anyone darker than the shade of newspaper, I saw this picture and was like, "wait, is that a tamal?"

For real.
