Fenenbock; Cabrera on Xtra

Congressional candidate and former EPISD Board President Dori Fenenbock along with EPISD Superintendent Juan Cabrera were on KVIA's ABC 7 Xtra last night.

It was like watching Donald Trump on Fox and Friends.

There's a lot to unpack with this so let me get right to it.

First of all, having the two of them on together on KVIA of all stations is going to draw criticism and KVIA should've known that was coming. Hell, I bet it would make a great ABC 7 Listens!

To the best of my knowledge, I haven't seen them cover any of the stories regarding the travel scandal at EPISD, but they decided to do an Xtra on the topic. The fact that they had little (if any at all) coverage of the scandal and still do the Xtra on the topic completely blew up their upfront non-apology for having the audacity to put Cabrera on when his brother is the main anchor of the station.

The said something about some sort of editorial firewall blah blah blah but the reality is his brother is the main anchor of that station and Cabrera was given a chance to rehab his image in a friendly outlet.

For those of you keeping score at home, Cabrera and Fenenbock stopped talking to the El Paso Times - you know, the ones that actually broke the story - but they have no problem going to a station that that has Cabrera's brother as the main anchor. That should tell you a lot about both Superintendent Cabrera and Trustee Fenenbock.

And lets just rip the band aid off here and ask why the hell Fenenbock was on in the first place? She's no longer the EPISD Board President, so what is her relevance to appear on-air with Cabrera?

The answer, she's running for congress and her appearance on the show was 100% political. I know I'm kinda all over the place on this post, but like I said there's a lot to look at. Her congressional bid came up and when asked about it, she sorta wagged her finger about not even having made up her mind to run for congress yet.

Lol, yeah right. Like Escobar is still thinking it over too right?

Seriously who does Fenenbcock think she's kidding and why didn't she get called out on that one right away? I mean the lady already has a Facebook page dedicated to her congressional bid and a campaign logo! And she had the audacity to look into the camera say she's hasn't made up her mind? She expects voters to believe what she says now? GTFOH!

Cabrera is then very delicately asked if he is campaigning for Fenenbock and his answer is no...but he and Fenenbock had a lawyer look up if it was okay for him to endorse her. I'm not joking, that really happened.

But probably the worst thing that could've happened was listening to the both of them try to justify the outrageous expenditures on luxury travel and then the toughest question of the night having had to come from a teacher in EPISD.

She busted him out a madre.

She asked him why he could travel so much but couldn't make it to any of the EPISD graduation ceremonies this year despite knowing several months in advance about them. He responded with some bullshit answer, but the same teacher later emailed in to the show asking him specifically about El Paso High School's graduation. He was scheduled to be there and was a no show.

But you know where he did go?

Dee Margo's election night party.

He said he was only there for 30 minutes and sat most of the time (bullshit). Chew on that for awhile. The Super actually said that he made a calculation about how much time the graduation would be versus how much time the Margo party would be...

AND THEN CHOSE THE MARGO PARTY...over STUDENTS!

I'm sorry but if you're the superintendent of the largest ISD in the county and you're not well enough to go to graduation ceremonies, then you aren't well enough to go to a fucking political party!

And don't give me the whole he's disabled because he accidentally shot himself and can't stand line. Then sit while you hand out diplomas! If he were in a wheel chair would this be an issue at all?

No.

He'd be there on stage with everyone else and hand the diplomas out.

He made a conscious choice not to attend graduation in favor of a political shin-dig with booze. Obviously, I'd skip the graduation and go to the place with free booze too.

But ya know what?

I'm not the fucking superintendent of EPISD!
