Fall Out From Gonzalez Raise
Apparently some people are blind and don't realize that the community is pretty much united in their displeasure with the raise for Tommy Gonzalez.
But it doesn't take a genius to take the community's pulse on this one.
Lets be clear about something. Maybe a few people are pissed about the raise because they basically just hate the city manager form of government and all that comes with it. But they are the minority.
This is one of those issues that has people that are basically a-political pissed off. Guess what, those people don't know and don't care about a debate involving a strong mayor/strong council form of government.
The raise has bothered people who are supporters of a strong council form of government, like myself. Those people aren't saying get rid of the city manager and go back to a strong mayor. In fact after I have reviewed comments on all the published stories in the real media, two things are really hard to find. One, people who support the raise and two, anyone who is saying go back to strong mayor form of government.
I've spoken with several members of council since they vote and I've heard from both members of council and staffers that their offices have been getting calls about the vote. The overwhelming majority have been opposed to the vote.
They don't really care what you have to say, but they are getting the calls for whatever that is worth.
