More on Moody-Margo III

I was speaking to some folks at the Labor Day Breakfast yesterday, by the way for you Conservatives that hate labor but still took the day off yesterday-you're welcome, and the topic of Moody-Margo III came up. While I know that there are some really important issues that are going to the deciding factor in that race, I really think there is a huge vulnerability for Margo in the Sunland Park corruption scandal because of his former employee being one of the central figures.

I really think that is something Margo will have to be looking over his shoulder about, and rightfully so.

But the more I chatted with people the more I felt it was necessary to point something out. I think one of Representative Margo's big selling points to voters his how well he got along with the delegation. In fact, I think thats a big reason a few of the delegation aren't going to the mat against Margo.

I'm sure that they all enjoy riding an elevator with one another or having Texas barbecue at the capitol, but when it comes down to policy, Margo really DOESN"T get along with the delegation. I'll bet there is some common ground on some El Paso-specific agenda items, but on the big and important stuff, Margo votes AGAINST the delegation.

On bills regarding funding for education, Margo voted against the delegation. On bills related to healthcare, Margo voted against the delegation. And on Voter ID (which was recently struck down), Margo voted against the delegation.

  1. We agree sometimes, we disagree sometimes. Max, this has to be the most ridiculous comment you've ever made. First of all the TEA doesn't vote on their budget. Dee Margo does and he sided against El Paso children. As for Moody not being in the game but for his father's name, that is Hall of Fame stupid. First of all, its predicated on the ridiculous notion that judges are household names in this town. They aren't. Never have been, never will be. To say nothing of the fact that Dee Margo really didn't do much as a State Rep and by comparison, Moody did.
