Republican Candidate for CCC PCT 1 Stumbles Out of the Gate

This is part of the reason why no one takes Republican candidates very seriously in El Paso. This is campaign literature handed out at the debate at Burges High School over the weekend that was handed out by Republican candidate for El Paso County Commissioner's Court Precinct #1 candidate William "Bill" Lenderman III.

As you can see, he states that he is a candidate for the position.

A couple of things struck me about Mr. Lenderman and his literature.

First - he ironically bears a resemblance to Green Party Presidential Candidate and ultra liberal, Ralph Nader. Gotta love the irony there because they couldn't be more different in terms of policy if they tried.

Second, in terms of his literature it doesn't look like he's trying very hard or that he put a lot of effort in to what he was creating. Looks like this is a word document that was printed out on yellow paper.

He says he's running for El Paso County Commissioner District One. For some reason people can't seem to get this right. You aren't running in a district, you are running in a precinct. Its such a basic thing to get right. Care enough about the job you are pursuing to at least call it by the right name.

To be fair to Lenderman, at least two other candidates have actually printed material with the incorrect information on it and they were Democrats - Danny Anchondo (no longer in the race) and Rudy Loya (running in precinct 3).

But Lenderman should know that he could actually get himself in trouble with the Ethics Commission for something else having to do with his material. Its what you don't see in this pic.

Sorry for the orientation of the picture, but on the left, which is really the bottom of the literature, there should be a legal disclaimer and there isn't.

Campaign 101.

Its hard for voters to take Republican candidates seriously when the people the nominate are poorly prepared.
