Perez Outraises, Quintanilla, Oaxaca, & Loya COMBINED; Chente Blows $24K

Well, to borrow a line from Mark Twain, the rumors of Perez's campaign irrelevancy are greatly exaggerated. People have been down playing Vince Perez's ability to win the race for County Commissioner in Precinct 3 for quite some time now.

But they may want to rethink that strategy following the release of campaign finance reports. Turns out Vince Perez can fit a lot of contributions in his suspenders. Perez raised $14,092.70, which is huge in comparison to his opponents.

Quintanilla raised $3,800, $2000 of which came from PACS, before he ran for County Commissioner. Oaxaca raised $1570, and Loya raised $2350. That is a total of $7,720 that the three of them raised in this filing period.

Not only did Perez out-fund raise all of his opponents combined...he almost doubled their combined contributions.

Bear in mind, its very early and Oaxaca will likely get a lot of money from the Gandara's and many campaigns sand bag it for the first filing period and the real money shows up on the 30 day report.

Nonetheless, this is a significant development. It shows Perez financial viability and it shows that he's been flying under the radar of his opponents. It also means he is likely to be the target in the race at this point.

Also just as interesting is Chente Quintanilla's report that shows he spend $23,989.24. He spent waaaaay more than what he was able to raise. Its going to be harder for Quintanilla because its easy to raise money when there are PACs around, but they don't give to County Commissioner candidates. Oaxaca also spent a little more than what she was able to raise, but only about $500.

I still have to go through the reports in more detail so this is just a quick thumbnail, but it is a very big funding surprise. Perez has much more support that his opponents gave him credit for.

Looks like the bike they joked about Vince riding on is actually something from Pimp My Ride...

Perez is the lead dog in terms of fundraising right now.
