While You Are All Clapping for TC…

Let’s keep things in perspective. Despite being able to get her client off, let’s take note of the fact that the judge had some choice words for the conduct of Caballero and Leeds.

From The Lion Star Blog by Jaime Abeytia
And before people start saying it was the judge, I’d like to remind folks about how many judges this case has gone through in the process.

We have a judicial process and we have to respect that process, which means we have to respect the verdict that was handed down. And quite frankly, Arditti herself has been pretty dignified throughout the process and now has the job of going back to work today. I don’t care who you are, that has to be tough.

But following the verdict, the judge said some things that as an El Pasoan, I find embarrassing. When speaking of the conduct of the attorneys, Judge Steven Smith said, “…During this trial I’ve had the truly sad experience of observing the most egregious and disrespectful conduct by members of the bar that I have ever seen in my 24 years of service…”

I find it embarrassing that he had that experience with members of the bar from our community.
He went on to address Judge Arditti herself and said, “…I would not that its equally disturbing that a duly elected District Judge of our state would condone such behavior by her own attorneys…”

As if the Judge’s comments weren’t bad enough, the conduct continued while he was reading his statements. He actually stopped and directed for the attorney to be removed.

So who really is doing the bullying?

I’d also like to remind people that Caballero lost her suit against ABC 7 that has been going on for some time now. Judge Susan Larsen determined that there was “…no genuine issue of material fact…” and dismissed the lawsuit earlier this month.
